Is Augoor a web application or an IDE plugin?

Augoor is a web application. It is not tied to any IDE and does not require plugins to function.

For code documentation, Augoor deploys Llama 3-8B locally. Clients can also use Globant Enterprise AI (GEAI) or OpenAI based on their preference.

These models are optimized to utilize metadata extracted from code repositories, improving the contextuality and relevance of documentation. Metadata extraction is performed using Tree-sitter, which efficiently parses the code.

How does Augoor process a repository?

Augoor follows a structured process:
‍Cloning: A code repository is cloned.
‍Data Extraction: Metadata, JSON files, and source code files are analyzed.
‍Documentation: Classes, functions, and files are documented using AI.
‍Indexing: The documented code is indexed, enabling semantic search to detect and retrieve classes and functions in natural language.

Augoor is deployed on the client’s infrastructure, ensuring complete control over security and scalability.

What infrastructure is required to run Augoor?

How does Augoor operate within a client’s infrastructure?

Augoor runs entirely on-premises at the client’s infrastructure, ensuring no data is transferred to Augoor (except in cases where a client voluntarily shares logs for support).
Augoor stores a VCS token for authenticated users (e.g., GitHub tokens).
Augoor stores a local copy of the client’s source code for operational purposes.
Machine learning models are pre-trained by Augoor, meaning no additional training is performed at the client’s premises.

What are the requirements for deploying Augoor with a client?

The client should have:
Repositories hosted in an SCM (Azure Repos, Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab—both public and private).
A cloud provider for deployment (AWS, Azure, Oracle, or GCP).
Supported programming languages: Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Kotlin, Go, C++, Swift, Objective-C, COBOL, PHP, Apex, JSX, and TSX.

Does Augoor modify client source code files?

No, Augoor does not modify or change the source code. All data belongs to the client, and Augoor provides a read-only AI-powered documentation and search layer.

What data does Augoor store?

Augoor stores:
User information (Git access tokens, avatar URLs).
Code-related data (functions, methods, and classes for documentation).
A local copy of the client’s source code for operational analysis.

Updates & Maintenance

How are Admin and Gatekeeper roles set up in Augoor?

Admin & Gatekeeper roles are assigned manually by the DevOps team during installation. User roles are inherited from the SCM platform and are not managed directly in Augoor.

How are updates and hotfixes applied to Augoor?

Updates are communicated in monthly sync sessions, and the client executes the update command in coordination with Augoor’s team.

Is it necessary to reprocess repositories after every Augoor update?

Reprocessing is required if there are changes in metadata, data models, or feature upgrades. Clients can choose whether to reprocess all repositories or only selected ones.

Is technical support required for daily operations of Augoor?

Clients operate Augoor independently, but support and maintenance are provided when needed.
